Support for children's and youth swimming in Saalfeld

Our aim is to support our children and young people in the Saalfeld Swimming Club as much as possible in the sport of swimming. The competitive and performance-oriented aspect should be particularly encouraged. Accordingly, we strive to provide high-quality training and take part in numerous competitions.

Participation in competitions with children's and youth teams costs the swimming club at least several hundred euros, up to several thousand euros for participation in international competitions lasting several days. Entry fees (approximately between 3€ and 10€ per individual start) and travel costs are high cost items. Referees and coaches make such competitions possible in the first place. The qualification and remuneration of such professionals is also costly and time-consuming.

Training as preparation and follow-up for competitions is time-consuming in terms of planning and evaluation. This process is supervised by well-trained coaches. Basic sports training and performance development begin at an early primary school age. The children and young people must be accompanied into adulthood. This long process therefore takes at least 10 years until top performance can be achieved.

In addition to the competitive aspect, organized club sport also has general health and social benefits. Children and young people are taught a health-conscious lifestyle and social skills such as fairness, motivation, discipline, social interaction, adherence to and understanding of rules are trained. Organized club sport is therefore a cornerstone of our society.
