About this project

K.Hämmerling from Ludwig-Haap-Schule is responsible for this project
One of the main aims of therapeutic riding is to strengthen children's abilities and not just to work on so-called deficits.

The unique effect of the horse promotes the children's competence in their own development process.

The child is given time to express its own concerns and thus discovers its possibilities, with the aim of strengthening its own responsibility and independence.

So much for the theory.

In practice, most of the pupils have a great time when they are allowed to go riding.

Encountering the free-range horses in the open stable is a challenge for many, and they are very proud to have passed this test of courage.

The well-trained therapy horse remains very calm, even with the most restless children, when grooming and scratching out hooves.

The horse also reacts very well if a child is unsure or starts to slide on the horse's back, she simply stops.

Agility and concentration are encouraged with playful tasks.

Social learning is practiced in small groups. Pupils who have problems with each other at school support each other to achieve a goal together with the horse.
