"Knitting Cohesion: A Scarf for Friendship"

The Essen-based aid organization "Zeit für Solidarität /Dayanışma Zamanı e.V." [Time for Solidarity] has initiated the "Knitting Cohesion: A Scarf for Friendship" campaign [Zusammenhalt stricken: Ein Schaf für die Freundschaft]. The primary goal of this initiative is to bring attention to the hardships faced by victims of natural and human-induced disasters in Turkey, Ukraine, and Morocco during the winter months,, while strengthening local cohesion. The campaign starts on October 30th and runs until Christmas.

Participants can contribute to the campaign by providing hand-knitted or purchased scarves, as well as monetary donations. The in-kind donations will be shipped to Turkey and Ukraine and distributed with local partners. The monetary donations will be used to fund educational projects for disaster and war victims in Turkey, Ukraine and Africa (possibly Morocco and Libya).

A highlight of the campaign will be the "Day of Cohesion" [Tag des Zusammenhalts], which will take place on November 12 from 12 to 18 o'clock in the wedding hall Prenses Palace (Westendhof 4, 45143 Essen). Participants do not need to register in advance, and knitting needles and yarn will be provided free of charge. You can also bring your own knitting.
