Restrooms for a School in Tatumbla, Honduras

The Technical School in Tatumbla currently has no functioning restrooms. Almost none of the sinks and toilets are usable at the moment. Since the water from the pipes is only available irregularly, it would have to be collected in suitable tanks. This is also not possible in a hygienic way, which in sum leads to considerable absenteeism on the part of the students when no water is available and, as a consequence, to a deterioration in school performance.

The existing toilet cubicles are not lockable. In addition, the lighting does not work, both of which affect the safety of women and girls in particular, so that unfortunately assaults have already occurred. 

In addition, there is sometimes a considerable lack of knowledge about how to deal with monthly menstruation. In addition, there is often a lack of suitable hygiene articles and ways to dispose of them.

For this reason, the project will install a total of twelve toilets with lockable cubicles and four washbasins. In addition, tanks will be installed to store tap water and the floors will be tiled.

The project will also provide information on the menstrual cycle and purchase suitable disposal containers for pads and tampons.
