About this project

Andreas Guba from AGIC African-German Information Center gUG is responsible for this project
Soccer clubs are to be set up in Nigeria in cooperation with clubs from Germany.
The aim is to reach children and young people in villages and smaller towns. Soccer should inspire and be an offer for Nigeria's children and young people, create success for them and open up prospects.
Henry Ambrose, the initiator, originally comes from the place in Nigeria in Delta State where the initiative began. He now works successfully as a soccer coach and sports manager in the Ruhr region. Henry Ambrose: "I grew up with the dream of soccer in Nigeria and am lucky enough to be able to live my dream. Many children and young people in my country should have this luck."
He has already initiated many projects in Nigeria and Germany that have a positive social and economic impact in his home country.
He is an active member of the Nigerian diaspora in Germany and involves his international network in his projects.
This project is particularly important to him, as his passion for soccer plays a decisive role here and has had a positive impact on his own life.
The project will begin in the Delta State region with the founding of several clubs. These offer regular training sessions for children and young people, organize camps and tournaments, which will lead to a league.
The donations are divided into two parts: In kind donations and monetary donations.
The donations in kind relate to equipment, textiles and shoes, which are made available in Germany.
The monetary donations are intended to finance the transportation of the donations in kind to Nigeria and within the country to the localities.
Coaches and the organization of training sessions and tournaments will also be financed.
Furthermore, large items of equipment such as goals, benches and pitch boundaries will be purchased locally with the donations.
After the first season, the league should be self-sustaining and be expanded to other areas of Nigeria.
Several soccer clubs and a sporting goods retailer have already donated equipment and sportswear.
The Rot Weiss Ahlen soccer club has already declared its partnership and, in addition to the sports equipment, has paid the coaches' salaries in Nigeria for 6 months in the amount of €3,000.
