Pipe Organ for the historic church St. Michael Wehrheim

Förderverein St. Michael Wehrheim eV
A project from Förderverein St. Michael Wehrheim eV in Wehrheim, Germany
An unique opportunity opens up as a pipe organ has to be moved from a inner-city church in Bremen as it will be peplaced by a home for elderly people. This instrument is an optimal solution for our church in Wehrheim.

About this project

Marc Giesen from Förderverein St. Michael Wehrheim eV is responsible for this project
The Förderverein St. Michael Wehrheim eV has been a non-profit organization since 2010! The current project is to replace the organ that was installed in the Church of St. Michael in Wehrheim in the 1970s with a wonderful, used instrument from Bremen. This used pipe organ is located in an inner city church in Bremen, which is being demolished to make way for a new old people's and nursing home. We will buy this organ and bring it to Wehrheim. There it is to replace the existing instrument. The background of the project is that the existing instrument has no future. The organ is so expensive to maintain that it is not worth preserving. In addition, it has design flaws that cannot be remedied. Thus, a refurbishment is ruled out. The organ in Bremen fits perfectly into the church of St. Michael Wehrheim. The "new" used instrument will be available as a training instrument for the non-profit music school in Wehrheim, which is located in the vicarage next to the church. Of course, it can still be used to accompany church services and as a concert instrument. The diocese of Limburg and the parish have promised active financial support of around 30% of the total amount. The Förderverin St. Michael Wehrheim has to finance the own contribution. The instrument costs EUR 15,000, the dismantling, transport and assembly in Wehrheim must be supplemented by an intensive stay in the workshop, in which the instrument is completely dismantled and various wearing parts are replaced. That costs another almost 30 thousand euros, so that the total amount is 45 thousand euros. The own contribution of the association is thus over 30,000 EUR.
The church in Bremen will be demolished at the beginning of 2024, we have to dismantle the instrument before the end of this year. It is to be set up and intoned in Wehrheim at the beginning of 2024. We're looking forward to it!
