Greening Africa Together/Alle Hand in Hand, e.V.
A project from Greening Africa Together/Alle Hand in Hand, e.V. in Fomena, Ghana
The projects aims to provide renewable energy (solar panels) to Methodist Basic School and Abu Bonsra Basic School in the Ashanti Region, Ghana. This ensures constant electricity supply and in the future will also power boreholes for clean water.

About this project

Stephen Prah from Greening Africa Together/Alle Hand in Hand, e.V. is responsible for this project
Needs, Objectives and Benefits
We are embarking on a crucial project with the aim of providing renewable energy solutions, specifically solar panels, to two educational institutions in the Fomena community (Ashanti Region, Ghana): Methodist Basic School and Abu Bonsra Basic School. Our primary objective is to ensure a consistent and reliable electricity supply to these schools, empowering them to fulfill their educational mission effectively. By implementing solar panels, we do not only address the immediate need for electricity (e.g. electrical devices, lights) but also contribute to a sustainable and environmentally friendly future. This clean energy solution aligns with our commitment to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions, promoting a greener and healthier environment for generations to come. Furthermore, the impact of this project extends beyond powering the schools.
As a next step of the project we aim for additional solar panels, which will also facilitate the operation of boreholes at the school premises, ensuring a continuous supply of clean water to both the educational institutions and the surrounding community. This essential resource plays a vital role in promoting hygiene, sanitation, and overall well-being, positively impacting the lives of students, teachers, and community members alike.

Team
In our international project team, students from the TU Berlin (Germany) and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Ghana) work together with non-profit organizations (GATo, Alle Hand in Hand e.V.) and the local community of the school. (Talk about our stakeholders more).

Sustainable Developement Goals (SDG's)
(4) Quality Education: Constant supply of electricity to enhance learning conditions
(6) Clean Water and Sanitation: Provide constant electricity to power boreholes
(7) Affordable and Clean Energy: Using Solar energy as a renewable energy source
(13) Climate Action: Better CO2 footprint for the schools

Exciting Update!
In the previous semester, we successfully implemented our solar panel project at Fomena Methodist Basic School, mounting panels on a classroom block's roof. The positive impact on students' learning experiences has been remarkable, motivating us to further our mission. Your support has already made a tangible difference, and as we look to the future, we're eager to extend this positive change to more students.

Let's continue to brighten the path to education and dreams together. Your contribution matters, and we appreciate your ongoing support in making a lasting impact on these students' lives. Thank you for being part of our journey!
