La Isla Challenge 2023 - Hiking for Peru

For the third time in a row, PATRIZIA SE's Hiking Challenge will take place in aid of the PATRIZIA Foundation. Over 70 PATRIZIAners will become fundraisers over the next three months. In the past two years, the #patriziachallenge has raised a total of over €230,000. Our goal for this year's La Isla Challenge 2023: 130,000€ for the expansion of our PATRIZIA School Sondoveni in the Peruvian rainforest for an island of education and a better future.

 Our PATRIZIA School Sondoveni

Back in 2014, the PATRIZIA Foundation was able to build a first school in the small indigenous village of Sondoveni, 10 hours from Lima in the Peruvian rainforest. Originally, five classes were taught in the three classrooms - up to 60 children from families in the region attend our school every year. 

The new construction phase 

In spring 2023, two additional classrooms were built, as well as a kitchen and a workshop, so that the classes could be taught separately. With the newly built teachers' rooms on the school grounds, we hope to be able to bind teachers and administration to the school in the long term. Especially important was the construction of a staircase from the village to the school on a hill, so that the school can be reached on foot even in the rainy season. Together with a rainwater cistern, a drinking water filtration system was installed. Together with our partner apoprojekt, a member of our support group, these necessary extensions to the school could be inaugurated in March 2023.
