About this project

Project background: From February 2022 to February 2023, we built a small house north of Kampala together with the Front Aid Foundation using donations collected via betterplace. There, orphans from the slums of Kampala can grow up and go to school in safety and away from the dangers of the slums (child prostitution, violence, diseases, including HIV).
Here you can see a video in which Peter and Emmanuel from Front Aid show the house.
Our children's home in Kalule: There are now 18 children living in the home, 16 of whom are already old enough to go to school. We rely on your donations via betterplace to cover the running costs. When you donate money to us, every cent (minus the transaction fees incurred for the transfers) is used for the project and nothing goes to advertising or other organizational costs. You can see the current needs below.
You can help us in particular by sponsoring a child - with €25 a month you can ensure that a child can attend school. Simply set up a permanent donation and we will - if desired - establish contact with a child and send you regular updates.
We visited the house in April 2023 and spoke to the children living there. It is a great project and does a lot of good in addition to providing accommodation for the children, e.g. the garden of the house is used to inform the small farmers of the local community about climate change-resistant and space-saving plants.
Project partners: The overall operational management lies with Edward Zziwa and Peter Kitatta from the Front Aid Foundation (Facebook, Twitter). Salim Semambo from the Bwaise Slum Childen's Initiative is also involved in the project on site in Bwaise. Jonas Schröder and Tristan Lemke support the project on a voluntary basis in terms of organization, advice and fundraising measures. Initiative Frieden e.V. is making its organization structure available free of charge.
