Today, we turn to you to fight for the life of a special little boy from the district of Erlangen. Constantin, only five years old, was diagnosed with DIPG in March 2023, an incurable brain tumor that mostly affects children. This diagnosis has turned Constantin's life and that of his family upside down.
After a wonderful ski vacation where the little whirlwind was still skiing down the slopes, a few abnormalities were noticed during a visit to the pediatrician to make sure nothing was overlooked. Unfortunately, they went straight from the pediatrician to the pediatric oncology department. On a Saturday, we came as sponsors to the clinic to take care of Constantin's sister. The following diagnosis not only hit the parents like a blow. A brain tumor at the brainstem, grade 4 midline glioma, inoperable and lethal, with an average life expectancy of about 9 months was diagnosed. DIPG is the abbreviation for it.
Since then, our little ninja and passionate Lego fan has been fighting through chemotherapy. The parents can no longer work 100 percent and, of course, are going through all the lows of this journey themselves. There are no words, but maybe we can find actions that will improve the life of Consti and his family and at least alleviate some of their financial worries now and in the future.
As sponsors of Constantin, we want to collect donations together with the Harzer Sonnenzwerge e.V. association to partially offset the costs incurred around the treatment, care, and support of Constantin, and to help him and his family make the best use of the time they have left. We want to provide Constantin and his sister Antonia with carefree moments and experiences, and we want to support them in enabling a costly therapy with a new medication called ONC 201. This drug has been shown to significantly improve survival time in this tumor and sometimes even double it in studies. It is successfully used in other countries, but this drug is not yet approved in Germany, and a hardship application takes time...time that Consti no longer has. The drug is already being used successfully in the USA and Switzerland and is also available in Germany but at their own expense.
Each of us can imagine how difficult these days must be for Constantin's family. We want to help them so they can focus on what is important: love and care for Constantin. With your help, we can give this little boy and his family hope.
Let us fight together for Constantin and give him and his family the chance to continue to experience unforgettable moments. Please donate so that we can support him on his way. Every euro counts, and every donation brings us one step closer to the goal of helping Constantin live more carefree.
Thank you very much for your support.
Your „Hope for Constantin“ team.
