For my voluntary service in Costa Rica

The destruction of ecosystems can be seen everywhere by now. Huge forest areas have to give way to plantations, chemicals contaminate water and soil, a whole lot of rubbish disfigures landscapes etc. etc. We more and more will feel the consequences, such as drinking water shortages. That's why I want to do more. My next step is an ecological voluntary service. And for that I need your support.

Hi! I'm Luisa...
... 24 years old and I will be in Costa Rica for at least 9 months, departing in April 2023, to help on site as a volunteer in environmental projects. Where exactly is yet to see. Depending on the location, there are different tasks – e.g. in reforestation projects, in ecological agriculture with smallholders and indigenous communities as well as environmental education. With this I would like to make my contribution to intercultural dialogue, directly support the development in the country and take global responsibility for the protection of nature. In addition to that, I would also like to grow with the tasks and gain new perspectives. This is made possible for me by the organisation Pro REGENWALD and the 'weltwärts' program.

Who or what is 'weltwärts'?
It's the name of a german volunteer service program which gives young adults the opportunity to support social and ecological projects in the Global South. 'Weltwärts' takes on about 75% of the funding for the volunteer, e.g. pocket money to make ends meet on site. The remaining part plus project expenses etc. fall back on the organisation and the volunteer. Therefore: I would be very happy if you support me and Pro REGENWALD.

And who or what is Pro REGENWALD?
The non-profit organisation was founded in the 1980s to campaign proactively, transnationally and sustainably for environmental protection. Concrete goals are to protect forests, especially the tropics, and to support indigenous people, because both are elementary components of comprehensive environmental protection. Among other things, it achieves these goals through educational measures and project support mainly in Costa Rica and Nicaragua where it has several cooperation partners.
