MENTOR- Die Leselernhelfer HAMBURG e.V. is a local initiative of volunteers in Hamburg trying to help improve the comprehensive skills of Hamburg’s pupils between the age of 6 and 16.
MENTOR e.V. has been working closely with over 100 schools in Hamburg since 2004. Teachers put forward pupils struggling during their classes due to their poor comprehensive abilities, and the non-profit association MENTOR HAMBURG e.V. looks for voluntary members to place with these children. Over 3000 pupils have been placed to date. MENTOR works on a 1:1 basis, meaning that one mentor works with one child for an hour every week, for at least one year. As the individual help is very intense, pupils start to develop a greater self-awareness and to become better in school.
Due to being the biggest non-profit association in Hamburg, a lot more schools would like MENTOR to work with their pupils. At the same time there are many adults interested in volunteering to help children who have problems reading and understanding texts.
To enable us to grow and guarantee a good quality of support by the association, we would be very grateful if you would give us financial support.
