Agriculture is the main stay that dominates the livelihood of the people in Songea .The Sector contributes 87% of the economic production of food and revenue to the Songea District council population and employs over 89% of the working population in the District. Agriculture is dominated by small scale subsistence peasants. The peasants rely on maize for their survival in terms of main source of Food and revenue/income earning. The area is also very potential for tree planting, forest conservation and beekeeping undertakings which have not been done in a large and comprehensive scale.
According to the current employment data over 65% of the unemployment fraction belongs to the unemployed youth from the marginalized vulnerable people including the Orphans .This project expects to create employment opportunities in a sustainable manner enabling the beneficiaries to sell the pine tree seedlings from the GOA tree nursery Beds, Selling Raw Honey from the GOA Apiaries.
PROJECT GOAL.
Uplifting the most vulnerable and marginalized groups of people mostly orphans, women window and youth from object poverty through mainstreaming them in hands on skill’s training and sustainable environmental conservation, tree planting and beekeeping in Madaba division.
BEE KEEPING
This component of the project will generate profit after sitting the Hives, there will be bees making honey.
Honey will be collected twice in the year; during June season and November; we plan to Auctions the honey in various regional and national marketing.
festivals / Exhibitions of forest farm products of raw honey, raw wax and some candles can be made and all the projects products have a high market demand.
Charitable Status.
Our organization has been engaging in various social activities including planting trees at the water sources, encouraging people to keep bees commercially. Up to now a total of six water sources are protected with trees planted by our organization.
