Die Gesellschaft für Geschichte und Heimatpflege Altshausen e. V. konnte bei einer Auktion einen original Freikaufbrief des Deutschen Ordens aus dem Jahr 1601 erwerben. Es handelt sich dabei um eine Urkunde auf Pergament mit angehängtem Siegel in Hartholzkapsel. In diesem Schriftstück wird beurkundet, dass sich ein Leibeigener mit seiner Familie von der Leibeigenschaft für 22 Gulden beim Deutschen Ritterorden freigekauft hat.
