A community center for a multicultural neighborhood. Join in!

"Church is only church when it is there for others!" These words from the Protestant theologian and resistance fighter Dietrich Bonhoeffer have accompanied us as Kirche am Start from the very beginning in Germany's most international city, Offenbach am Main. When we got the opportunity to have a facility in one of the most multicultural and poorest street of our city, we asked ourselves how we can be there for the people around us besides our religious activities. The answer came immediately: through a community center. A place where social projects can run to meet the needs of our neighborhood; A venue for arts and culture to promote encounters between different people - A home for and with the neighborhood. Specifically, 3 projects are already in preparation:

a) An afternoon care for elementary school children: Here, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., there will be a lunch offer, homework supervision and recreational activities for about 20 children.

b) Art and music evenings: Art and music are among traditional means of communicating Christian values. In our diverse neighborhood we want to hold events once a month to convey the Christian message of human dignity & the love of neighbor. Especially in a diverse city like Offenbach, we see the opportunity to thereby enable encounters, community and peaceful coexistence.

c) In partnership with Foodsharing Offenbach, we want to care for our environment by working to prevent food waste. We plan to become a distribution point where people from our neighborhood or city can access food free of charge 24/7 that would otherwise have to be disposed of by stores or markets, even though it is still in good condition.

And this is now the beginning we continue to look for more partnerships and opportunities to be there for the people around us. For this we need your donation to set up this home for our neighborhood.
