RESTORATION AND NEW CONSTRUCTION
The first project we are tackling is the primary school in Mevobo, a district of Bagam. This school was founded by the state in the 60's and currently consists of 2.5 buildings with a total of 6 classrooms. The school buildings are in a desolate condition, the roofs are leaking and the capacity is insufficient for the number of pupils. Some of the classrooms are out of service because they have become completely dilapidated. About 10 years ago, a construction company was hired by the state to renovate the school. The company just managed to start a building and disappeared with the funds. The person responsible has since been sought by the police, so far without success. Unfortunately, the construction was not continued either. Later, the Parents' Council also started the construction of a building, then the money ran out. So today there are two half-finished buildings on the site, reclaimed by nature.
The school was divided into two groups by Ministerial Decree No. 263/17 of 2017. Group I consists of 1 director, 5 teachers and 180 children. Group II consists of 1 director, 5 teachers and 242 children. Thus, a total of 422 pupils were taught in 2021/22.
Each group usually includes six classes, from first grade (called "Sil" in Cameroon") to sixth grade (Cours Moyen II). The two groups are taught alternately in the same classrooms: one group in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
The following is planned with the project:

- construction of a building with 2 classrooms
- completion of a building with 2 classrooms, which was once started by the parents but could not be finished due to lack of money (October 2024, built)
- an administrative block with 2 principal's offices and a teachers' room
- a total of 10 toilets (8 for the pupils (February 2025, built) and 2 for the teachers)
- a drinking water system (June 2023, the well is built)
Our association already has construction drawings for this project (see pictures) and a cost estimate for the entire project. This amounts to about 107 TEUR.
The goal is to advance the completion of the project in stages through donations, 100% of which will go to the project.
