About this project

Sara Buschmann from SOLOMÜTTER – das digitale Zuhause für Single Moms is responsible for this project
"SOLOMÜTTER - das digitale Zuhause für Single Moms" is the first online platform for around 2.2 million single and separated women.

The non-profit organization behind it campaigns for a society in which single parents and their children are no longer discriminated against and are taken for granted as a form of family. The offer is conceived by single parents for single parents and has to the goal of informing single mothers to strengthen and to interlace.

There are good reasons why women in particular are addressed:

At almost 90 percent, mothers still make up the majority of single-parent families. Their problems and challenges are often different from those of fathers. This is a fact that begins even before becoming a mother and has to do with the social and economic situation of women in Germany. Families outside the heteronormative father-mother-child model are still not very visible in our society, do not enjoy equal status and are exposed to various prejudices.

The SOLOMÜTTER team wants to change this.

Because: If the basic conditions are correct, legal questions are clarified, the financial situation is stable and the social surrounding field pulls along, many single parents and their children are living their best life.

The SOLOMÜTTER platform was created in May 2021 as a self-developed project and has been successively expanded as needed. The SOLOMÜTTER community currently has around 6,800 members and the articles written by our authors are read by up to 3,000 people per article.

In order to address even more single parents and to reach them with new tools and services, the planned expansion of the platform includes the following measures:

The central element of the platform will be the "help for self-help" approach. SOLOMÜTTER will provide single parents with tools and strategies that they can use to create better conditions for themselves and increase their own (professional) opportunities.

Using digital tools, we would like to mediate the exchange with like-minded people, point out regional as well as supra-regional offers of help and offer consulting services. In addition, interactive live events with a focus on "single parents" will be organized, and special workshops and courses will be offered for our target group.

SOLOMÜTTER maps the realities of single parent women's lives and makes them publicly visible. The platform takes up already now many central points from the life of single parents and would like itself perspektivisch thereby increasingly still more strongly on participatory beginnings to focus – from single parent to single parent.
