About this project

The school is an important and worthy cause! Girls in Ghana continue to have difficulties accessing higher education, attaining a high school certificate, a job and earning a substantial living. Yet, it is the women who carry the responsibility for their families. This is why the diocese of Keta-Akatsi sets out to promote and facilitate the continuing education of girls for which a boarding school of 600 students is the goal.
Thanks to AddYouCation e.V., a non-profit initiative of the German architect firm HENN, the first phase of construction was reanimated in February 2010. It was completed in January 2011 and attracted the attention of the German Embassy in Accra and the GIZ, to name a few. Consequently, the government of Ghana committed to realizing a further phase of construction. A large part of Dormitory 3 was financed in 2014 but it has halted in the second half of its construction. It remains to be a crucial part of the school because it impacts
• the access to education in the Region of Ghana
• how safe and looked after the girls feel and
• the opportunities for the girls after they leave the school.
AddYouCation is, therefore, hoping to secure the completion of the second half of the third dormitory, which would simultaneously mean an expansion of the school’s infrastructure. Moreover, the construction would be carried out on a local level and support the economic substance of the country as well. At present, we are collecting funds for dormitory 3.
