    About this project

Nina Kiedrowicz from Pottperspektiven e.V. is responsible for this project
"Perspektive(n): Mensch" is a project which aims to gain insights into the lives of various people and in particular to create a space for those perspectives and stories that often remain unseen and unheard. For this purpose, 16 very different people from the Ruhr area were given disposable cameras and asked to take photos of their lives over a period of several weeks. What, who or how they photographed was entirely up to them. Based on subsequent interviews with the participants, texts were written about the stories and people behind the photos.
The project was funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) within the framework of the federal programme „Demokratie leben!".
However, the funding only covered the work on the project. In order to be able to share the results - the photographs and texts - with as large an audience as possible, the next step will be an exhibition in the central library of the city of Essen. At the same time, readings will take place in spaces close to everyday life: in schools, cafés, bookshops, libraries, etc. In addition, the texts will be printed and distributed free of charge - at the exhibition and reading venues, but also at various institutions and organisations in the city. The texts will also be translated into English and printed in English to also reach non-native German speakers.
This will incur costs for materials and printing etc. as well as personnel costs. With your donation you help to cover these costs.
