About this project

The St. Gotthardtkirche is the oldest church in the Mark Brandenburg from the 12th century. In the winter months, the average room temperature in the St. Gotthardtkirche is around 2-5 degrees Celsius, sometimes the temperature is even below zero. Church services and concerts also take place in the St. Gotthardtkirche in autumn and winter. This leads to high heating costs. Help that people don't have to freeze.
The decrepit electric footstool heating (heating pipes that were normally installed in trams in the GDR and that replaced the old coal heating in the St. Gotthardtkirche at the end of the 1970s) is partially defective and has an immense power consumption. Heating is also required for concerts such as the Christmas oratorio or Christmas services.
The planned new seat cushion heating with infrared is a modern, energy-saving heating concept and is also interesting from a conservation point of view, since the room air is no longer heated as before, but only the people are heated by low-wave heat radiation from the seat and back cushions. The heating can be controlled in a targeted manner and it is only heated where people are sitting. Thereby there is a considerable energy saving.
The costs for the heating pads and the new electrical installation amount to over 40,000 euros. We applied for funding from the regional church's climate fund and were promised funding. We have already collected more than half of the sum from funding and donations.
You too can help and sponsor “your” heated seat. We still want to collect 5,000 euros in donations. We can do that if 50 supporters each donate 100 euros. You can also donate a heated seat on behalf of someone else.
