About this project

Andrea Erhart from WEMA-HOME e.V. is responsible for this project
We are desperately looking for support to rebuild the school building, which was destroyed by the storm, in order to be able to hold classes for the school children without any danger.

A heavy storm has completely destroyed the roof of the school and spread the remains of the roof in the surrounding area. All the children of the school helped diligently to gather the scattered parts back together. Using wooden mallets and hammers, they straightened the sheets and temporarily reattached them as a roof.
However, the storm not only damaged the roof of the school, but also the building so badly that it is now in danger of collapse.

Because of the storm, classes cannot continue as the safety of the children cannot be ensured.

Therefore, it is all the more urgent to build a new school to ensure that the children continue to have access to education.

Fuktum is a village in the north of Benin, close to Togo. About 4. to 5,000 people live in the village of Fuktum. Most of the inhabitants are farmers and live from subsistence farming.
Since the children had a very long way to school, several farmers got together to give their children the opportunity to attend school in their village.
So the farmers decided to shorten the way to school for the children and built a school building for their children.

The house was kept very simple, windows and entrance are just openings in the masonry.
Tables were nailed together from saw rough boards and the benches are made of branch forks with a beam laid across.

Therefore, in order to bring education to children, a new school building should be built, with the necessary equipment that is needed.
