Emergency aid Haiti: bringing the school home

 
"Bringing school to the children's homes".

The schools we support in Haiti are located in areas where gang members have gained the upper hand. Thus, it has not been possible to respect all scheduled school days in recent months. The school committee of our partner St. Luc has reacted and is now acting under the motto, "if the children cannot go to school under the circumstances, then the school will come to their homes".

Various school supplies, pencils, writing pads, geo triangle, books etc.. will be packed in a backpack and given to the students. This would equip them well for the school year and allow them to continue learning at home when they are unable to come to school. 
The St. Luc School Committee has also formed groups through social media. These groups are teaching & learning groups where the teachers explain the subject matter via language after-rites, share documents, and give homework. These are then worked on in the respective groups & individually and sent back to the teachers via photos. Time slots such as on weekends or when the security situation permits have been used to bring students into the school for partial presence teaching and individual learning review.
