School Fees for the children of Nepals remotest villages ...

Many of the children in the remote mountain villages of Nepal cannot visit a school because their parents cannot afford to pay the school fees, or provide the children with a school uniform, books, pencils and pads required. Many of these children work on the fields and rarely have a chance to learn a different trade.

Our Sponsorship program aims to help the children in the remotest areas to visit a school and to give them a chance to learn a trade or to study. The costs of sending a child to school for one year are around €150,00, and cover the school fees, the school uniform and required books etc for a whole year.

Rather than provide personal sponorships, we pool the funds to ensure that we can provide ongoing support for the children of the villages that we support. This is especially important if a sponsor has to cancel their engagement for any reason. Through the pooled funds we can continue to support the individual children to ensure that they complete their basic education.

Originally Light for Kids began providing solar energie to the remotest villages to provide light in the evenings in order to allow the children to learn and complete their homework. Our experience has provied that providing light and energie helps, but is not enough to guarantee that all the children can complete their education.

Therefore we have expanded our program to include renovating or building schools, financing the training and salaries of teachers, and helping the children and their families with an education sponsoring program. This helps the children and their families and paves the way for a better future.
