About this project

To distribute sanitary pads to school going girls in rural and slum areas in South Sudan. South Sudan is a young country trying to improve almost everything which makes it hard to provide quality and inclusive education to everyone in South Sudan. The literacy rate of 2021 was 35%, of which girls got only  10%  in that small percentage.  And the one reasons are early marriage,  lack of resources to buy sanitary pads have forced many girls to drop out of school in big numbers and give pleasure in exchange for pads. This sometimes lets them end up getting pregnant and then dropping out of school. Therefore, The Mawoudit foundation came up with an alternative solution to distribute 79000 pads to 1000 young girls who can’t afford to buy sanitary pads from targeted schools in rural and slum areas of Northern Bhar El Ghazal state in the next 18 months. One pack of a sanitary pad containing 32 pieces cost $5 per piece and also 2000 cartoon or boxes of soaps.
