About this project

Philipp from turn the corner e.V. is responsible for this project
Any chance there is a tractor in your garage that you don’t use anymore? Or a spare penny in your pocket? Either way, you can help us get a tractor, disc plough, and a (solar) water pump to take our farm in Ghana to the next level and support local students!
Every penny counts, and every tractor matters.
We need your help to take our initiative in Ghana to the next level and support local students!
AYA Farm is a registered start-up agribusiness that grows maize, soybeans, and peanuts in a sustainable way. It gives money to the Lyf Jacket Foundation (LJF), a Ghana-based NGO that gives scholarships to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The project is personal, as it started after one of our founders survived the deadly migration route through the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea in search of opportunities for his university education. Seeing the deaths of other passengers on the boat made him call the sea a "graveyard for African youth." In Ghana and other African countries, young people with talents and ideas are forced into dangerous migration routes because they lack the financial opportunities to further their education or develop their skills. These young people leave their homes in search of a better life, but once they arrive in new places, they face racism and exploitation in low-wage sectors.
It was these experiences of migration, fighting racism, and organizing solidarity structures that led to the creation of the Lyf Jacket Foundation. We provide "life jackets" to young people in Ghana so they don't need one to cross the Mediterranean Sea. So far, five people have been able to pursue higher education with the support of LJF in Ghana.
LJF is seeking support to acquire agricultural machinery that will allow the organization to expand its farm and increase its productivity. The proceeds from the farm produce are geared towards providing vocational skills and decent jobs for the youth in the community and helping the organization support even more students. LJF is currently seeking to raise 20,000 euros to acquire a tractor, a plough, and a solar water pump. Any donations, whether in the form of money or equipment, will help LJF become more independent and self-reliant and will support the organization's efforts to fight food insecurity and rural poverty in Ghana.
To learn more about LJF and how you can support their mission, please visit their website at www.lyfjacket.org or follow them on Instagram at @lyfjacketfoundation. Together, we can help provide young people in Ghana with the opportunities they need to succeed.
