Disabled or disadvantaged children, often also called "special kids", have a particularly hard time in Kenya to be integrated and to pass the school everyday life.
Even later, when it comes to vocational training, work and family support, these people have a much harder time, because they lack the basic skills for an independent existence.
Now we can help: Caroline Bugo, the principal of the Galana River School in Mwanza, can complete advanced training if funding is secured.
Caroline will be able to attend an advanced training course during the next 1.5 years in order to support and integrate especially disadvantaged children.
This will pave the way for the children to lead a self-determined life in the future.
"Madame Caroline is a teacher of the PP2 class with us, she is a state employed teacher and very great with the kids ! Since we have several Special Kids here the idea came up to train them - I thought it was a great idea and since the course started immediately at the beginning of the vacations I sent her! The training will take place over 1.5 years in several terms (blocks) - she learns not only to deal with disabled children, but also, for example, the blind language.
At the moment we have 5-7 children who should go to a Special Kids School, the oldest is Halima (14 years old), then Moringa (10 years old), his little sister Caroline (3 or 4 years old), a boy of the Ormars and a few who are "poor learners".
Total costs: about 1900 € plus transport, books about 50 €".
