Again this insidious loss of protein.
Again a heartbreaking fight for life and death.
Once again, a wonderful child affected. A child who just wants to live. 🥺

This is our Jana, 12 years young. Jana wants to be a child, she wants to hug friends, feel the spring grass under her feet, the scent of flowers in her nose, the warming rays of the sun on her skin, her favorite music in her ears, laugh out loud, giggle carefree, come home in the evening and cuddle with mommy. Tired, happy from the day.

But Jana's life is anything but carefree. Jana needs many, many medications with strong side effects, Jana has frequent pain and migraine attacks. She has to undergo regular hospital treatments and is now panic-stricken by the infusion needles - afraid of dying. 😢 She suffers immensely from protein loss; this is an unfortunately common complication of her heart surgery due to her congenital heart defect (Fontan circulation with only one existing ventricle). She suffers like recently our Joshua: she loses all protein through the intestine. Means: absolute immune deficiency, diarrhea again and again, bloated belly, pain and cramps...

Around half of the children with the disease die within five years. Jana's diagnosis is now over four years ago!

Jana has such immense water retention in her delicate, already weakened body that her lungs have been severely affected several times. Starting tomorrow, April 26, she will be treated again - again! - because her condition is getting worse and worse.  To see this wonderful girl like this tears our hearts. Her family, of course, even more so. The family does not want to lose their daughter, to continue to hold her lovingly in their arms, of course they want that... And never again hear the sentence from her doctors: "We can no longer help your daughter." ❤️ 

We want to give Jana a chance at life, just like our Joshua. She should get the special therapy at Nemours Children's Hospital in Delaware, USA, that saved Joshua's life. About $80,000 (about 74,600 euros) is needed to stop the insidious protein loss. The protein loss that could rip Jana from her young life, that is currently already putting an unbearable strain on her life. 

From the bottom of our hearts we ask you: Help us! Let us not waste any more time! Let us save Jana's life. Every cent, every euro counts - everyone as he can.
