About this project
Hundeglück Filderstadt e.V. wants to give the street animals in Istanbul a safe life in their home city Istanbul.
We support animal welfare organizations domestically, but in many other countries an animal has no legal protection whatsoever and is willfully mistreated, tortured and subjected to death. Because animal welfare should not end at national borders, we help the many street dogs in Istanbul.
The animal sanctuary in Istanbul is now home to over 650 dogs and 50 cats. Almost all of these animals are old or sick.
All these animals are "permanent guests" and among them are many livestock guardian dogs. That's why we only mediate very few dogs to Germany.
We work together with the association "City of Angels Sanctuary" in Istanbul, whose helpers take care of the animals every day.
In addition, all helpers go to places frequented by street dogs every day. If possible, the dogs are caught, given veterinary care, microchipped and neutered. After recovery, they are returned to their "place".
The association "City of Angels Sanctuary" does not receive any support from the state and everything is financed exclusively by donations.
Since Istanbul is one of the cities with the most street dogs, the work and the veterinary care for the animals never ends. Since there are numerous sick street dogs and unfortunately they are not castrated, we need a lot of money every day to have them treated.
Our main goal is to enable the dogs to live a safe life in their homeland and to limit the proliferation of the many street dogs.
