How much are our elderly worth to us? How can the framework conditions be designed in such a way that a dignified and self-determined life is also possible when dying?
The palliative and hospice concept will become more important in inpatient care for the elderly in the coming years. We assume that a hospice is not a concrete institution, but should be understood as a movement that wants to help shape social culture in such a way that dying, death and mourning are a natural part of life.
After all, the length of stay in our facilities for the elderly is becoming shorter and shorter. The need for care is increasing and with it the desire to spend the last phase of life at home (nursing home), unfortunately not always accompanied by relatives and friends.
To support a dignified last phase of life also under nursing home aspects is the primary goal of the hospice service "AchtsamZeit". It is about doing justice to the people in the VKA care facilities in and around Paderborn in their last phase of life. To respect their physical, mental, social and spiritual needs. However, this is not always possible, especially in the elderly care facilities there is a lack of personnel, time and financial resources.
Without our volunteers, our senior care facilities would often be faced with a problem that is almost impossible to solve. Their tireless efforts cannot be adequately rewarded.
