About this project

It doesn't stop.  Be an Angel e.V. pragmatically and quickly evacuates Ukrainian refugees. We have brought over 2000 people to safety so far. We have been doing this since the beginning of the refugee flow, and since 4 March 2022 also personally on the ground.
How exactly does Be an Angel go about it? We evacuate directly from Ukraine - especially people with disabilities. Since 04 March, we have been evacuating Ukrainians daily with up to five buses, who have made it to Moldova but receive only minimal support in Moldova.
What is the situation in Moldova? Moldova has 2.6 million inhabitants and is the poorest country in Europe. We work closely with the Moldovan government. It has set up six large camps in Chisinau for up to 1200 people each and 26 smaller camps for up to 400 people each. We drive to the individual camps and check in the refugees who want to go to Germany.
Do all refugees have to go to Germany? No. Not all refugees want to go to Germany. A decisive reason for the refugees to stay in Moldova is the proximity of the border to Ukraine. The people hope for an end to the war so that they can return home very quickly. The camp staff send us lists of people who want to go to Germany. We have been asked by both the Moldovan government and the National Congress of Ukrainiens in Moldva - we work closely with both bodies - to relieve the civilian population in Moldova.
Are you the only ones helping in the country? We have been cooperating with Team Humanity in refugee relief for five years. Now again in Moldova. They evacuate people from Ukraine at the risk of their lives, then bring the people to Moldova, where we take over and organise the onward journey. In addition, we work with the National Congress of Ukrainiens in Moldva. This organisation accompanies people from Ukraine who have found accommodation in Moldova, usually with private individuals.
How long do you plan to do this? We cannot and do not want to make a prognosis about the near end of the war. In addition, the UNHCR has approached us. The UNHCR has initiated regulation flights from the capital Cisinau (despite the no-fly zone). We support the UNHCR and arrange for particularly vulnerable refugees, for whom a bus journey of about 36 hours, the approximate travel time, is unreasonable and who need to be flown out quickly. Be an Angel e.V. is the only NGO in Moldova that helps refugees from Ukraine to get to Germany.
Every day, 2-5 buses travel from Moldova to Germany; between 49 - 77 people can be brought to safety per bus. Be an Angel uses its network to accommodate the refugees in all federal states except Berlin.
The donations arrive where they are needed:
● Approx. 150 € per seat in a bus
● Approx. 480 € per basic medication package
