In Uganda, it is estimated that over 75% of disease burden is preventable and linked to poor hygiene and inadequate sanitation facilities and practices. In Mayuge district, the situation is not different from other districts in the country where over 20% of the disease burden is related to poor sanitation and hygiene. It was found out that over 95% of the household don’t have clean and durable place for drying their utensils. This has contributed to poor hygiene related diseases like diarrhea and cholera in the village. However, such diseases can be prevented through good hygiene in handling household utensils. It is therefore important to make sure that after proper washing of the household utensils like plates, cups and saucepans, they are dried properly in a clean and hygienic place. Five people are working on the project.This project will benefit the community members. It will benefit 50 households. Each house hold will own a dish Drying rack and this will help in the improvement of sanitation and hygiene.The biggest challenges is getting the materials to make the dish drying racks. The donations will help us to buy the materials to make the Dish drying racks.
