About this project

SEAD e.V. from SEAD e.V. is responsible for this project
Education
Educational poverty and the resulting unemployment are among the greatest challenges in Africa and especially in Cameroon. The ongoing civil war in the Anglophone part of Cameroon has denied the right to education to many children and young adults. Furthermore, access to education is not guaranteed but is dependent on money, making it especially difficult for young people from poorer backgrounds to consistently stay in school. For these reasons, SEAD focuses on education in order to offer the Good Shepherd children and young adults a path to a secure and professional existence in their home country. Formal education is not only a way out of poverty, it is also fundamental for the whole individual development.

Why we need your support:
Our Cameroonian SEAD member, Kevin Fofie, leads the projects for the self-sufficiency of the orphanage on site. He is 28 years old and was one of the first orphans at the Good Shepherd Home. Besides his responsibility at SEAD, he is also one of the leaders of the orphanage and helps take care of the many children. His plans and goals are always based on the well-being of his siblings and the orphanage, which is why we also want to support him on his educational path.

Kevin has been given the great opportunity to study online “Businesses Administration” at the “University of the People”. While many chores such as caring for chickens and pigs, preparing feed, maintaining the vegetable farms and generating income for the orphanage are daily tasks, he also wants to further his education and studies. A degree increases the chances of getting a job, as well as the path to an independent life. Kevin would also like to use his studies to advance the orphanage and projects of SEAD and to be able to care for his siblings.

We would like to support Kevin on his journey and fight for more educational justice. We are grateful for any support!
