About this project
In our clubhouse, we provide our athletes' rooms to refugees who are referred to us from the world of sports. In the process, we also take care of the catering. We offer help with the first needs that arise after a refugee has left his or her home country. This includes, among other things, the provision of clothing, telephone and Internet use, toys for the children, hygiene products and everything else that is necessary to cope with everyday life.
In addition to the most necessary things, we would also like to offer our guests support in the further steps of arriving in Berlin. Volunteers from the club community help with many things, e.g. with visits to the authorities and doctors. We would like to offer people other opportunities that they can take up freely. As a sports club, we see sports as an important part of integration. We offer sports activities for all those who come to stay with us. But we also offer other people with a history of refugees the opportunity to do sports free of charge. To do this, we draw on decades of experience in the field of integration-through-sport. Our large network in Berlin sports, to emergency shelters and to partners in civil society helps us to quickly identify needs and target groups. Swimming is our main sport and here we offer swimming lessons for children and young people and strive for sustainable integration into club sports. In these projects we have always paid attention to a low-threshold offer, so we organize the transfer, the necessary clothing and the required material. Of course, our swimming coaches are all trained and experienced.
From the experiences of the last years, we would like to offer additionally a German course for the people. Thus we enable a faster participation in the club and social life for our guests and our participants in the sports offers.
With your donation you make possible the financing of the described Integration Through Sport projects and the development of further projects, about which we will report in due course in the news.
