About this project

The events of the last few months are shocking: since the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops on 24 February, war is once again raging in Europe.
Meanwhile, according to UN figures, 4.9 million people have already fled to neighbouring countries in the wake of the Russian attack on Ukraine and 7.1 million people within the country are considered internally displaced (as of 16.06.2022).
In the border areas with Ukraine, we have started emergency projects with local partners for arriving and transiting refugees and will continue to expand them flexibly as needed to provide basic services there:
In Lublin (Poland), volunteers from our partner provide care for children, psychological support and bring food and medicine to the border crossings.
In the Republic of Moldova, our partners have started to set up medium-term shelters for refugee families in several villages. Children in particular should not have to live permanently in emergency shelters.
In Chernivtsi in Western Ukraine, donations are being used to provide food, hygiene articles and medicines for internally displaced persons and to organise onward transport for refugees to the borders.
In Kielce, Poland, food, emergency shelters, clothing and hygiene products, among other things, are distributed. Childcare and psychological support are also offered.
In Lviv, in western Ukraine, our partners organise recreational activities for internally displaced children and young people.
Our thoughts are with all those affected, but children and young people are particularly hard hit by the current conflict and are in need of support! We are sure that civil society solidarity makes a difference and every donation can save lives - Leave No One Behind!
We promise that your donation will benefit refugees from Ukraine and have an impact. The needs listed here are examples. What the donated money is ultimately used for depends above all on developments on the ground. We will keep you up to date on this!
At Schüler Helfen Leben, Germany's largest youth-led aid organisation, we have been working for children and young people at war for 30 years - in Southeast Europe, in Syria and now also in Ukraine!
