    About this project

Christian Kawalla from Evangelische Kirchengemeinde Gutengermendorf is responsible for this project
    The church

The Gutengermendorf village church is one of the oldest buildings in the Löwenberger Land district of Oberhavel, north of Berlin. The church dates from the founding period of the 1.5 km long roadside village, which came into being in the course of eastern settlement in the 13th century.

The two checkerboard stones on the tower, which according to legend are supposed to banish the devil, were also taken from Danish church buildings of the time. Inside the church there is a valuable Baroque pulpit in cartilage style and the patronage pews of the feudal schoolmaster Martin Schwartz from 1693.

A medieval sacrament box with iron fittings is embedded in the choir wall. The mercy seat and the Golgotha group in the nave have been restored and returned. The three church bells are made of steel and date from the 1920s.

Gutengermendorf is known far beyond its borders for its annual hobby and horse market.

In 1945, the church spire and the clock were bombed. Extensive restoration work was carried out on the façade and the interior of the church in 1990.

    The clock

With the destruction of the church spire in 1945, the clock was also destroyed. The parish and the inhabitants of Gutengermendorf have set themselves the goal of rebuilding the northern and southern dials of the church tower clock.
In addition to the dials, this requires an electric pointer mechanism, a hammer for the bell and a radio-controlled master clock.

We are collecting for our new church tower clock at church services, village festivals and many other events and activities.

Be a part of rebuilding the steeple clock in one of the oldest churches in Löwenberger Land!
