The Käthe Kollwitz Museum is moving - we need your support!

    Freunde des Käthe-Kollwitz-Museums Berlin e.V.
A project from Freunde des Käthe-Kollwitz-Museums Berlin e.V. in Berlin, Germany
The museum is moving in 2022 and thus faces a surprising number of challenges, such as how to get the bronze Käthe Kollwitz, which weighs tons, from the attic to the new location. We need your support for three concrete projects!

    About this project

Birgit Gantz-Rathmann from Freunde des Käthe-Kollwitz-Museums Berlin e.V. is responsible for this project
After 35 years on Fasanenstrasse in the immediate vicinity of the bustling Kurfürstendamm, the Käthe Kollwitz Museum will move to the former theater building at Charlottenburg Palace in early summer 2022. The theater building, located in the lively Zille neighborhood with many artists' studios, has modern facilities that the museum did not have before: barrier-free access, an elevator, climate control. As a result, Käthe Kollwitz's delicate drawings can be shown on a larger scale than before, and loans from other museums, which previously were reluctant to lend their works due to inadequate climate control, are now possible.
A large foyer will welcome visitors and invite them to linger, separate rooms will be available for museum educational work, and large events will also be possible in the future.
The move and the conversion work at the new location for use by the Käthe Kollwitz Museum will cost a lot of money, and the museum's own share of the costs is high. The Friends of the Museum therefore ask you, dear Kollwitz admirers and museum visitors, for financial support in order to be able to implement all the planned innovations together with the museum for you.
