The church "St. Anna" is located in a small side valley of the beautiful Middle Rhine Region near Bacharach-Steeg. It was built at the beginning of the 14th century.
The church is one of four medieval churches that belong to the Protestant parish of Vierthäler. Many people have special memories of this place. It is therefore not only dear to us but also highly valued.
The roof of St. Anna is dilapidated. In many places, moisture penetrates and individual repairs of past decades have sometimes aggravated more than saved. The consequences today are wood rot in the roof beams, woodworm infestation and real dry rot. If measures are not taken very soon, the church must be shut down.
The renovation has been planned for several years and is particularly demanding.
In addition, a large colony of the bat species "Großes Mausohr / greater mouse-eared bat" raises its young in the church tower in summer. These must be kept harmless.
The cost of the project amounts to about 1.5 million euros. In terms of financing, we receive funding from the Koblenz Church District, from a special federal and state funding programme, through the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage in Rhineland-Palatinate (GDKE) and the foundation KiBa. However, there is still a significant funding gap. We would like to close this with your help.
We ask you for a donation for this beautiful church, which has already experienced so much and is a home for many people.
