Solidarity -MAU supports Black student, collecting last legal fees

The Association Model African Union Bayreuth e.V. supports S., a student at the University of Bayreuth with the collection of unpaid legal fees. The organization has been following her case from its inception, and in the spirit of the preamble of the associations Charter, we provided community support and arranged a fundraiser to help offset part of the financial burden of her legal bills in 2020 (https://www.betterplace.org/de/projects/82027-struktureller-rassismus-an-der-uni-mau-unterstuetzt-schwarze-studentin). 

S. has been permitted legal aid due to her struggling to fulfill the final remaining financial commitments to the court on her own as well as with her family. This arrangement with the government binds her and her parents to face an enormous burden for an indefinite time as a consequence of this form of aid, since any money generated beyond the threshold specified by the court is ruthlessly taxed. These decisions impact negatively the growth of her academic and professional life as a young student with goals.

S. has the option of paying the court 1.637,16€ in legal fees to be able to earn money without having to pay off the legal fees and move on with her life after such a traumatic experience, which value would be the last remaining one for fully fulfilling all of the remaining financial obligations on this matter. As a result, in solidarity with the student, we wish to help S. to go on without the constant worry of such a lengthy and stressful legal procedure. Contribute!
