Helping animals is often also connected with helping people.
From the employee of an authority in Antalya we were made aware of an old couple who lives deep in the forests of the Taurus Mountains in abject poverty and yet takes care of abandoned dogs and cats. She asked us to help them if possible.
Our volunteers immediately followed this call for help, loaded our car with several bags of food, and set off. The journey alone without an off-road vehicle was an adventure.
Arrived there, our group was warmly welcomed and hospitably received. At the moment 5 dogs, 14 cats, chickens and a few sheep and goats live with the two old people and share what little they have. Due to the economic crisis in Turkey, the living situation for many people has worsened a lot, and so the first thing to be abandoned are dogs and cats.
We have decided to include the two with their animals in our aid program and to support them with food and medical help for the animals. Of course, this includes a neutering of the dogs and cats as soon as possible in order to avoid an increase of the population.
For this project, we ask for your support. The costs amount to about €2.000 per year.
