Power to Read

A project from Little Sun Foundation e. V.
in Berlin, Germany

For children living without electricity in Africa, a small solar lamp can have a big impact – giving young minds the opportunity for a brighter, more productive future. Will you help us give children in Africa the Power to Read?

About this project

Three hundred and forty million children in Sub-Saharan Africa live without electricity. This means they can’t study after dark, are less likely to graduate, and get jobs that can help pull their families out of poverty. And that’s especially true for girls.

At Little Sun, we believe that education is one of the most empowering forces in the world. This fall, just in time for the new school year, we are on a mission to bring solar lamps to 5,000 children in rural Africa so they can learn their lessons, stay in school, and break down barriers to opportunity.

Will you give children in Sub-Saharan Africa the Power to Read and help them imagine a bright future?

With the help of people like you, Little Sun has already enabled 58 million extra study hours for children after dark and impacted 3.2 million people with unique solar solutions. Behind each solar device is a person who once lived in darkness who now has light. A family that is less vulnerable. A student with a future full of hope.
When you support Little Sun, you help thousands of children from Ethiopia, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Senegal by giving them the tools they need to create a bright future — for themselves, for their communities, and for Africa.
