The Alte VHS has found its new home in the former secondary school at Rölsdorfstraße 20 in Beuel! The new building also offers enough space for political and creative expression. We have now been able to open the doors.
Everything continues to be non-commercial as far as possible. Thanks to voluntary and solidarity-based donations from users, we have been able to make our services accessible to everyone, regardless of their budget. However, life on the "Schäl Sick" is not so easy. We lost the inner-city location, noise protection costs a lot of money and the pandemic has left its mark.
Help us with your donation to maintain an independent, creative space for art, culture and politics in the new building! - We are grateful for every euro, every cent and every message!

The Alte VHS is a self-managed, non-commercial, socio-cultural center in Bonn-Beuel. It offers a place for an open, colorful and inclusive urban society.The 600 square meters provide plenty of space for groups, initiatives and individuals to develop politically and creatively. There is never a day when the building stands still and a wide variety of events take place side by side.
There are lectures and workshops on a wide range of topics, film screenings, discussions, art exhibitions and concerts. There is a range of sporting activities such as yoga, dance classes and kickboxing. In our music room, people come together to make music. Kids can play and have fun in the children's chaos room. In addition, our Free Shop is open to everyone for browsing and our Salóng offers space for a cozy get-together.
The best thing about it? Everything is non-commercial as far as possible. Thanks to voluntary and solidarity-based donations from users, we have so far been able to cover the €2,500 fixed costs for rent, insurance, electricity, etc. every month, making our services accessible to everyone, regardless of their budget.
Our house is still young: The Alte VHS was only rented by Rhizom e.V. at the end of 2018 and since then has provided the sociocultural space we have been longing for. Thanks to the Alte VHS, cultural and political life in Bonn has blossomed.
Initiatives have been founded, dance and theater groups have come together and networks have been created. Today, it is impossible to imagine Bonn without the Alte VHS.
