About this project

Healthy and intact forests can store more CO2 than weakened ones. To achieve this, we need more structure in the forest through young deciduous trees. However, these young deciduous trees are preferentially eaten by deer and stags and therefore need protection. Common practice is to reduce the excessive game populations by hunting or to keep the game away from the forest areas over a large area and for a long time by fences.
We want to try out an alternative and protect young trees from browsing with individual protection measures. As an individual protection measure, we place innovative, sustainable growth covers made of paper, which is 100% biodegradable, around the trees. In this way, the forest remains accessible to people and wildlife and at the same time, a young deciduous forest can develop.
With a donation of 30 Euros, we can already protect 3 young deciduous trees and maintain and sustainably secure 30 m2 of forest. Your donation also finances the purchase of land to implement the measure, the care of the young trees (control, manual removal of invasive species or rubbish), and our public relations work.
The aim is to protect 1000 deciduous trees in 1ha of pine monoculture from browsing and thus to make the forest richer in structure and species and at the same time to bind more carbon,
With the project "Donating Nature", the H&S Foundation wants to make a sustainable contribution to climate and species protection and link this with social, cultural, and educational concerns. If you are a company planning a team event in the forest, please contact us.
