Lawi Child support center

managed by J. Katana

About us

Lawi child support center was started in 2008, by Jeremiah katana. Seeing the major problem amongst the children of being abandoned, neglected and in the streets not going to school. Mr Katana started, meeting the kids one by one inviting them in his house. The number grew rapidly and there was no enough space for the kids. He shared, what he had with them, like food, bought them clothes.

The kids final had found a place to call home but did not go to school, so Mr katana started teaching them as in school. The school grew rapidly since many of the kids from this area came from poor families and were un able to go to schools where they had to pay for their education. I was able to hire three teachers to assist me teach the kids.

Currently we have 60 children who come mainly from the slums areas of Likoni. We have been able to put up classroom buildings. We feed, clothe and pay their school fees among other basic needs. We also payour teachers which many a times is a big challenge.
