Jaipur Rugs Foundation (JRF) is a voluntary, non-profit and secular organization, registered under Public Trust Act, which was established in response to the growing needs in the development sector to organize people at grassroot level for alleviating poverty by significantly enhancing their income.
JRF was founded by Mr. N. K. Chaudhary, a leading entrepreneur of hand knotted carpets with a purpose to organize carpet weaving artisans at grassroot level and build up their capacity so that they may have decent earnings and lead a dignified life. JRF came into existence in the year 2004 and in last six years it has established itself as one of the leading voluntary organizations in India.
We, at JRF work with more than 40,000 artisans across the carpet value chain in 10 states in India. Some of the milestones achieved by us include providing sustainable livelihoods to thousands of artisans, improvement in payment terms, eradication of child labor from carpet industry, popularizing carpet in nontraditional areas, organizing artisans in SHG and producer companies for financial security, promotion of artisan forum etc. JRF has evolved a model of poverty reduction and in the next 5 years time, we plan to reach out to 100,000 artisans along with their families.
