About us

Edget Baandnet Children Center e.V. (EBCC) is a German Non Profit, Non Governmental Organization (NGO), registered in Hamburg, Germany, as “gemeinnütziger Verein, e.V.”, operating in Awassa, Ethiopia.
“Edget Baandnet” is Amharic (the official language in Ethiopia) meaning “Growth Together”.
EBCC is a children and youth project with focus on
 Boarding House for orphans
 Primary School support (currently: Makibasa Primary in the outskirts of Awassa)
EBCC was founded in 2006 by the German couple Gundi Brendes and Jörn Bernhardt by then living and working in Awassa (2005 – 2008).
We express our thanks to all donors. Do not hesitate to contact us.
As we are a small NGO with the objective of cutting administration costs to less than 1% of the contributions received (and this <1% will be covered by the Management), we are still slow in finishing our website! Please be patient, we aim at providing transparent information in due course.

EDGET unterstützt das Tanzanische Rote Kreuz in Bukoba, Kagera.

Seitdem wir das Rote Kreuz in Bukoba im Rahmen eines ehrenamtlichen SES Beratungseinsatzes (Senior Experten Service, www.ses-bonn.de) besuchten, wissen wir, das auch anderswo geholfen werden muss. Unser äthiopischer Direktor wird von uns in kürze unsere Erfahrungen mit Straßenkindern in Äthiopien mit der tanzanischen Regionalkoordinatorin austauschen. Auch das Schreiben von Projektanträgen will gelernt sein. EDGET hilft dabei, ca. 30 Basisgesundheitsstationen zu planen und Tipps und Tricks zu verraten, wie die Mittel in Tanzania selbst eingeworben werden können. EDGET praktiziert bereits in Äthiopien erfolgreiches "innovatives Fundraising".
