SSG Blista Marburg e. V.

About us

SSG Blista Marburg is a traditional sports club from Central Hesse that has been dedicated to sport for people with visual impairments since 1970. Across several disciplines, we combine high-performance sport with lived inclusion – with and without visual impairments, our athletes train side by side.

The club is best known for its inclusive Goalball program. Goalball is the most popular Paralympic team sport for visually impaired athletes. Three players per team defend a nine-meter-wide goal and aim to score by throwing a 1.25 kg ball with bells inside, which can reach speeds of up to 80 km/h, into the opponent’s goal. As all players wear blackout goggles, hearing, orientation, and teamwork are essential.

With 11 German championships, 4 cup titles, and 4 U19 national titles, Marburg is one of the most successful Goalball locations in Germany. In addition, we host a state performance center where young talents are specifically developed and supported.
