About us
In times of global crises and societal divisions, civic engagement is more important than ever. The House of Engagement (HdE) in Freiburg is a resource center for engaged citizens, where people of all ages come together, develop ideas, and work collectively to make a positive impact on the world. Here, initiatives, associations, and engaged individuals find spaces, materials, training, and guidance – everything needed to carry out projects, build networks, and make engagement visible.
Every year, over 170 groups, including Greenpeace, Seebrücke, and the German-Ukrainian Society, use our spaces and services. Nearly 700 equipment lending and over 280 participants in training sessions demonstrate the strong demand for support in civic engagement. Through our co-working spaces, networking events, and newsletters, we bring together knowledge, contacts, and resources to make engagement more effective and inclusive.
