About us
Since 1855, the Franciscan Sisters of the Servants of the Holy Childhood of Jesus in Zell am Main have been committed to helping people on the margins of society. Beyond their facilities in Germany, they also operate the St. Joseph Children’s Home, the Antonia Werr Kindergarten, and the Holy Childhood School in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa.
At St. Joseph Children’s Home, 30 girls and boys aged 0 to 14 live who cannot remain with their families due to violence, abuse, extreme poverty, or neglect. This place offers the children protection and a loving home. Here, their trauma is slowly addressed, their education is ensured, and attention is given to both their physical and mental well-being, as well as healthy nutrition. A team of trained local staff works around the clock, forming a substitute family until the children can return to their homes.
