About us

The Dinosaur Game was developed in 2014 by members of the Chrome UX team at Google. The idea was to entertain users who lost their internet connection, replacing frustration with amusement. The team chose a T-Rex because it symbolized “prehistoric times before Wi-Fi.”

Originally codenamed “Project Bolan” (a nod to Marc Bolan of the band T. Rex), the game quickly became more than just a hidden feature—it evolved into one of the most beloved Easter eggs in digital history.
