About us

Happy Hearts Rwanda is a women-led nonprofit and social enterprise transforming the future of early childhood education in Rwanda. Founded in 2015, the organization was created to ensure that quality preschool education is not a privilege for a few but a right for every child. In a country where less than 20 percent of children between the ages of 3 and 6 have access to preschool and nearly 800,000 children are affected by stunting due to malnutrition and poverty, Happy Hearts offers a holistic, community-driven solution. The organization operates six affordable Montessori-inspired daycares and preschools in Kigali, where children learn through play and exploration in bilingual, child-centered environments. These urban schools serve as models of excellence, informing teacher training and mentoring across Happy Hearts’ rural programs. In the Gasabo District, Happy Hearts runs four Early Childhood Development Centers supported by eight home-based learning hubs, making preschool education
